The Foundation is looking to pilot an after school sports program in Welland, Ontario that will be tailored to youth in socioeconomically disadvantaged neighbourhoods. This program will be for students in grades 6-8, sessions will occur twice weekly on a one-hour basis and will be sport-specific. There is also an opportunity for mentoring within the after school program. Trained athletes of various sports will volunteer as mentors for the children in this program. These elite athletes will provide peer leadership with the hope that this active, positive role model will help guide the children through the trying times of youth to success.
